Western Conference Knockout Match: Los Angeles 2 vs. Vancouver 1
Jay DeMerit is a warrior. Bruce Arena needs to lay off the Krispy Kremes. Landon Donovan got a 9.8 from the judges. Robbie Keane was lucky not to get his face smashed in by Andy O’Brien. Beckham’s head was so far up Referee Petrescu’s ass, it was amazing he could still see straight – straight enough to serve a fine cross to Mike Magee for a blazing volley to goal that is. LA’s gonna have probs with San Jose. Credit to Vancouver – if not for a shit penalty call, they may have made it through.
Stephen’s real talk…
The Scottish guys are a bust. (In fact, the faster teams rid themselves of British influence, the better.) Mattocks is a player, don’t know why he was removed. LA have firepower, so they’ll always be dangerous even when not playing so well. Omar Gonzalez isn’t at his best, which means the LA midfield and defense don’t defend so well. San Jose should get joy from going straight at these guys – which is just their style.
Western Conference Semifinals – Leg One
Seattle Sounders vs. Real Salt Lake, Friday 11/2 at 9pm cst
Scott: Real grinds out a 1-1 draw in Sea-town vs. an Eddie Johnson-less Sounders squad. Joy!
Stephen: Seattle wins 2-0 in front of a raucous crowd of 60,000+. Bold/stupid prediction = Zakuani stars.
LA Galaxy vs. San Jose Earthquakes, Sunday 11/4 at 8pm cst
Scott: A back and forth 2-2 draw, which won’t bode well for the glamour boys once they head north to Buck Shaw Stadium.
Stephen: San Jose wins 2-1. Bash Brothers Gordon and Lenhart disrupt LA defense.
Eastern Conference Semifinals – Leg One
DC United vs. New York Red Bulls, Saturday 11/3 at 7pm cst
Scott: Ben Olson gets work done and shuts out Henry and company 1-0.
Stephen: Party boy Chris Pontius is the key man as DC wins 2-0.
Houston Dynamo vs. Sporting Kansas City, Sunday 11/4 at 2:30pm cst
Scott: Another grinder. A 1-1 draw that will set the stage for a battle of epic proportions at Dopestrong Park.
Stephen: I think it’s 1-2 to SKC. Kamara runs riot.
