UPDATE: According to this tweet from Chicago Local 134, there will be pizza and beer at the tailgate with a suggested donation of $5.

Well, the Fire just started getting it together, and suddenly we have a have a couple of bye weeks. No need to fret though, because the Chicago Red Stars will be opening their campaign this weekend and we have the answers to your questions in order to make your first trip just as enjoyable as visiting beautiful Bridgeview (if not more).

What?

Christen Press, Shannon Boxx, and rest of the Red Stars welcome Megan Rapinoe, Hope Solo, and the Seattle Reign to their home opener to kick off Chicago’s NWSL season.

When?

Saturday, April 18th at 7pm.

Where?

St. Benedictine University in Lisle, IL.

If you’re unsure of how to get there or don’t feel like driving from the city, Local 134 and Section 8 have you covered. A bus will be leaving Cleo’s at 4:30pm to take you and all of your semi-sober friends to Lisle. We’re still awaiting final confirmation, but the word on the street is that the bus may be BYOB.

What if I Want to Drive?

You’re more than welcome to drive if you wish, and unlike Toyota Park, parking is free at the stadium. The lot opens two hours before kickoff. Just make sure you buy your tickets here prior to the match. All three delivery options (print at home, will call, mobile delivery) are free of charge.

Can I Drink?

Short answer: yes. Tailgating is allowed before the match starts 90 minutes prior to kickoff, and as long as you don’t bring glass bottles, beer bongs, or anything else prohibited on this list, you can get a small buzz going before entering the sports complex. As an important note, they do reserve the right to deny entry to anyone deemed intoxicated, so keep it family friendly and don’t try to sneak liquor bottles in, and you should be good.

What if I Can’t Make It?

No worries. The games are streamed online at chicagoredstars.com and YouTube, so you can watch the action from home or on the go.

Anything Else?

Yes, buy a Red Stars kit while you’re there. They’re everything Chicago soccer fans have been asking about for years.
